ROBERT DOWNEY Jr spent almost £4,000 on knives last week to help out an old friend.

The actor, 48, ran into the pal he’d known from his days as a struggling actor, who was selling Ginsu knives at a market.

We’re told: “Robert offered to help him out with money but he refused. So instead he got 10 people he knew to visit the market and buy all the knives that were on sale. He generously footed the bill of course, which added up to almost £4000” (x)

Doc mentions to Marty that he visited a rejuvenation clinic in the future to make him appear younger. This was written so that Christopher Lloyd would not have to constantly wear old-age makeup for the two sequels, since he would primarily be portraying the 1985 incarnation of Doc.
